What is a magazine? What is a clip?
One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone says “how may rounds are in that clip?” I realize many are not educated. So here is my attempt to educate.
Let’s define them…
Magazine is a device which feeds ammunition into the firearm. Be it attached similar to many hunting rifles or detached like a semi auto pistol.
Clip is a device to load a magazine. It holds a number of rounds most frequently 10 and is used to load a magazine. These are often seen in use for rifles and are rarely seen for pistols tho they do exist.
The terms are NOT interchangeable. News media please catch a clue.
In the above photo the device on the left that is holding 10 rounds of 5.56x45mm is a Clip or Stripper Clip. It is used to load the device on the right, which is a Magazine.
